General Treatments

The basics of oral health and performance – all you need to know

Backed by all the advice and support you need, our comprehensive range of general treatments gives you the very best of dental care.

Dental Health Assessment

This happens on your first visit. It determines your level of oral health and allows us to recommend and plan a course of treatment best suited to your individual needs.

Routine Dental Health Reviews

Adult: every six or twelve months, depending on your requirement.
Children: generally every six months to monitor dental development. However, we recommend that children visit our Oral Health Educators as often as necessary to establish sound oral health habits for life.

Digital Radiographs (X-rays)

To include Digital OPG (large x-rays of the jaws), these are essential in diagnosing oral and/or dental disease. From here we determine a course of treatment for you.

Oral Health Education

For new or existing patients of all ages, our dedicated team of Oral Health Educators and Hygienists offers a comprehensive oral health education programme designed to help you keep your mouth in pristine condition.

Good oral hygiene leaves you with a healthy mouth in every respect: teeth are clean and free from plaque and tartar; gums are firm and fit snugly around your teeth and do not hurt or bleed when brushed or flossed.  A little ongoing care and attention can save you a lot of time, money and teeth in the long run.

Occlusal Adjustment - balancing your bite

Most people have an imbalance in the way their teeth meet – the 'bite' – a subtle misalignment between the teeth, face muscles and jaw joints. This can lead to problems such as broken, worn and loose teeth; tired, clicking, painful jaws, and even headaches. Corrective treatment, such as the use of a small splint or minutely adjusting the teeth (equilibration), will restore the balance and remove the compromising symptoms. Occlusal adjustment often precedes other treatments.

Periodontal Therapy

A process designed to heal damaged bone and save teeth without invasive surgery. Following the initial examination and radiographs, periodontal treatment will control the cause (bacterial plaque) and the risk factors, repair any damage, and restore and maintain a healthy oral environment.

Silver Amalgam Fillings

Fillings are the most common and least expensive form of tooth restoration.  Amalgam is a hard-wearing and cost-effective mixture and has been used for many years.  It is used only if the tooth is not suitable for another type of restoration, or if you specify it for your own reasons.

White Fillings

Also called composite fillings, these are made from tooth-coloured materials that restore
the natural appearance of a decayed or previously filled tooth. They are our filling material of choice for all fillings unless the restoration in question would benefit more from silver amalgam. Because they blend well with tooth enamel and don’t look like fillings, they are ideal for teeth near the front of your mouth, or for small and medium fillings at the back.

Fissure Fillings

Using air abrasion and a sealing white composite, fissure fillings help to treat and prevent decay forming in the small grooves of the rear teeth. They are swift, simple, effective and pain-free, requiring no anaesthetic.

Root Canal Treatment

This procedure will save an infected tooth or a tooth where the nerve has died. We painlessly remove the nerve, clean and fill the root canal, and leave you with a fully-functional, pain-free tooth. Only the most advanced technology is used including, for example, rotary files and warm ‘gutta-percha’, a wholly-natural filling material.

Extractions

If no more can be done to save a tooth, we can carefully, gently and painlessly remove the tooth and, if necessary, give you options for its replacement.
