Braces can change faces

One Brace, just a few months of treatment - what a difference.

Lisa had a crossbite on her front and back teeth on the right side of her mouth.

This crossbite meant that she couldn’t bite on all her teeth in the middle. She had to push her jaw over to the right by several millimetres in order to be able to close her mouth together. This made eating difficult and she was wearing away the front surfaces of her teeth.

I made Lisa a very simple removable brace, one that she could take in and out to keep it clean.

Once the teeth in crossbite had been moved over the bite, into the correct position, Lisa could then bite in the middle, with all her teeth meeting together.

The treatment required one simple removable brace and took less than nine months to complete.

Orthodontic treatment after a cycling accident

Kyle went over the handlebars of his bicycle when the bike stopped but he didn’t. Unfortunately the upper front right central incisor tooth was knocked out. Although the tooth was transplanted, it was so badly damaged that it became infected and had to be extracted later.

Kyle had a fixed brace fitted to his teeth to straighten them and will soon have a false tooth to replace the missing incisor.

This is Kyle after his orthodontic treatment, wearing a removable retainer with a temporary false tooth. When his dentist has fitted the permanent false tooth you shouldn’t know how badly his teeth were damaged.

Orthodontics and missing teeth

Nathan was born with congenitally absent upper lateral incisor teeth. That means that two of his top incisor teeth never formed. This gave him a gappy grin which he hated.

A fixed brace was fitted to his top teeth, to open up space so that the missing front teeth could be replaced with false teeth.

When the permanent false teeth have been made it will be impossible to tell which ones are missing.

Count Dracula

Jonathan hated his Dracula fangs and was reluctant to smile in photos.

Jonathan had fixed braces on his top and bottom teeth to straighten his teeth and to improve his smile. This worked wonders for his confidence and he smiles a lot more these days.

Another satisfied patient

Hannah hated her flying canine teeth and felt that people at school were mean to her because of her appearance.

Hannah had fixed braces on her teeth for 14 months and although she didn’t like wearing her braces, is now really pleased that she did.

Patient sees the benefit of caring for her teeth

Gemma had become really depressed with the appearance of her teeth. So much so that she had almost given up caring for them. When I first saw Gemma her oral hygiene was terrible and she had decalcification and decay in several of her teeth.

The first job was to get Gemma cleaning her teeth properly twice a day. Then she had to have some work with her regular dentist to treat the decay in her mouth. Once I was sure that Gemma was caring for her teeth then I fitted her with fixed braces to straighten her teeth.

Now she can have her teeth bleached to get them nice and white.

Orthodontics can improve your bite

Susan had a very increased overbite; this meant that the bottom front teeth bit into the gum behind the top front teeth, instead of biting against the opposing teeth to ‘cut’ her food.

Susan had upper and lower fixed braces, to lift up the top front teeth so that the bottom front teeth could be repositioned so that they met with the top teeth when biting.

Not only is Susan’s bite much better, but her teeth look great as well.

Gap between front teeth closed

Ellen hated the gap between her top front teeth. Although the gap was small, she was really self conscious about it and was desperate to have it closed. This gap was closed very quickly using fixed braces.

Bite and appearance improved in one go!

Jonathan was concerned that his front teeth did not touch together and that his back teeth met the wrong way round, making it difficult to eat certain foods. (His main complaint was that the bacon in bacon butties always ended up in his lap and all he got was the bread!)

This treatment was carried out using fixed braces without needing to remove any teeth.

What our patients say…

I just had to write a note to thank you all for your hard work and patience. To say I am “over the moon” is an understatement. I am so so happy with my teeth now.
